Get invoice numbet independently from the format - by: Gribaudo

There is a function to retrieve the progressive invoice number independently from the format used in the invoice module setup?
E.g. if the format is "FSyymm-nnnn" and the invoice number is "FS1701-0034", I want to get the 34 number.
